Is it possible to buy a print of this picture?

You might check sales sites on line.
I know that St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh holds the painting and may also hold the copyright for modern reproductions – posters – I know they sell postcards of it.

I have a nice print of The Presence. I came across it completely by accident about 8 years ago. I am currently trying to find out how much it is worth. It is from THE HOUSE OF ART in NEW YORK and is copyrighted with the original paperwork on the back of the print in a beautiful “gold leaf” frame. I don’t know how to find out the value of it just yet.

I don’t know anyone who isn’t moved by this painting or print. 45 years ago, I went to visit my mother, she asked me to delivery cookies to an elderly lady who lived next door. When I walked in the door the first thing I saw was this print, as I am a Christian I was in awe. I told her what a beautiful picture this was. A few days later I went to see my mother and she handed me the print, I asked her what she was doing with this and she told me the women had passed away and one of the last things she had to say was to make sure I got this print. I was sadly in shock. I have always loved it form many reason’s. Sadly my home became flooded and full of mold. My daughter went in saved it. Just this week I had to open it and remove it from the frame, mine is numbered 147 not signed. I will try and get some post cards for my children as they grew up with print and have always love as I have.. for me a perfect piece of art

I have a print of the prescence publised by J F E Grundy 24, Buckingham Street Charing Cross London W.C.2 Size of print is 14in x10in. Are these prints rare ?

    • ronald972's avatar ronald972 says:

Although the prints that we own might be rare – the fact that modern prints
of the same image are available limit the value of the prints themselves
A search on the web might assist in finding out more information.

I have a print of “The Presence” by Borthwick. It is framed with a picture No. and Frame No. from the House of Art in New York. Dimensions are approximately 4″ X 6″ in a matted glass frame. Can someone tell me how to determine its current value, if any? Thank you.

    • ronald972's avatar ronald972 says:

I suggest visit to local auction house. Most have contact with experts in various fields. Rough value estimates are usually free but valuing for insurance costs due to more diligence and exactness in research. Values like to have a hands-on of the item. Ron

I have a copy that came from the Catherdal. A church member brought it here to the US back in 1950 or so and around 1997 she gave it to me along with a printed history on the painting.

I have a small print from the American Art Gallery in New York that is numbered. Is that a good thing?

    • ronald972's avatar ronald972 says:

      Sharon
I do not do valuations but any print which is produced in a limited or numbered pressing will hold its’ value better than those from unlimited runs. If you wish a monetary estimate most auction houses will aid you in finding that figure.
